New Rig'n'Roll FAQ. Igor Belago answers to the questions of gamers

Igor Belago - the head of developers' team - answers to the questions of Rig'n'Roll fans. These questions were collected from game forums, and mainly from
Official Rig'n'Roll Forum, during last month.

Question 1:
Will Rig'n'Roll support Nvidia SLI?
Answer:
Possibly, yes, though we have doubts regarding the future of this technology.

Question 2:
In several interviews Igor Belago said Rig'n'Roll would support game controllers, including the clutch pedal. How the developers are going to implement the gearing-system in the game? Besides, as the developers mentioned, many US trucks do not gave the synchronizers in the gearbox, will that be implemented?
Answer:
The clutch pedal is supported (for example, with a three-pedal device Clutch Performance Pedal System from Act Labs). The lack of synchronizers is manifested, first of all, in difficulties in changing gears at high speeds. This requires calculated and careful control when going downhill, because using brakes actively and for a long time could put them out of action. Something of the sort is going to be implemented in the game.

Question 3:
…I was hauling a load of TV sets and mobile phones to Greystone, naturally the hoods were after me. Had an urge to pull an automatic and feed them a burst…Then I had a thought, why not to implement in Rig'n'Roll a guard in a separate vehicle?
Answer:
In the game you will have to count on yourself and your friends (if you make them, of course).

Question 4:
In the previous version, the semi trailer was always skidding as if it was of paper. A slight turn of the truck would result in a big turn of the trailer. Fix it so that it follows the truck. And adjust the brake system so that the trailer would brake first, than the tractor, as in real life. This way the whole road train will be straightened, due to successive braking.
Answer:
This will be implemented, though it is not a panacea, in real live either.

Question 5:
Will there in Rig'n'Roll be road trains of this configuration:

Answer:
No.

Question 6:
After the second release of the game, looking forward to the third one, can hardly wait! Only I would like an option to switch to left side drive, since I live in Australia, and am accustomed to drive "our way". Is that possible?
Answer:
California was selected as the prototype of the game world, so only right side drive will be implemented.

Question 7:
Will there be any other way of commuting rather then driving a truck? For example, a trip from one company office to another by plane. Just a small menu to buy a ticket, and time lapse, as when sleeping in a motel. Should be easy, and takes no changes to the game internal mechanics. The planes in the sky I suppose you already have, for realism.
Also, going for a new vehicle: you cannot keep the old one, but what if you go by taxi?
Answer:
Rig'n'Roll is a simulator of a long-haul trucker life, so mostly the trucks will be the transport.

Question 8:
On one of the screen shots from the game, there's a T.I.R. plate on one of the semi trailers. Now, the question is, where in America a trailer with such a plate does come from? Was it a mistake, or some trick of the developers?
Answer:
TIR convention, established by The International Road Transport Union (IRU) simplifies crossing the borders of the member countries, for the cargo transport. The TIR system works mostly in Europe, though US and Canada are in close co-operation with the TIR. In the game, TIR is going to be used as a mean to be able to cross the borders of the state without any checks.

Question 9:
On many of the screenshots, the road pavement (applies only to freeways, not the city streets) is covered with small lengthwise grooves, why is that?
Answer:
This is a special concrete road pavement, very widely used on US freeways. Provides a good grip even with a wet road.

Question 10:
Will the road patrol chase you for inconsiderable speeding; say for 65 mph, when 60 are maximum?
Answer:
Even in real life the speeding by less then 5 mph does not result in penalties.

Question 11:
The same question applies to the realistic physical behavior of the vehicle (the developers claim the behavior is going to be really plausible). I mean the truck, loaded especially, can not drive at full speed through the city, bouncing with the opponent, and still keep to the traffic laws and yet still behave realistically. Such a trip would end at the next turn or a lamppost whichever comes first…
Answer:
This is a game. One has to come to a reasonable compromise, though it is necessary to have a notion of traffic rules and to have driving skills.

Question 12:
Can a road train slowdown "by a parachute"?
Answer:
If you mean the semi-trailer, then yes.

Question 13:
Is it possible to keep a small warehouse where the cargo is stored? For example, you come to a big warehouse, where the cargo is for sale, buy the cargo, and unload it into your own warehouse. In effect, you buy a cargo, so that you can deliver it and sell in any other place, for example on a black market etc.
Answer:
No, the game is dedicated to the cargo transport.

Question 14:
Will the road damage be modeled, developing of potholes, bumps?
Answer:
Yes.

Question 15:
Will there be dashboard illumination when you turn the headlights on, or, just like in HardTruck2, the same dashboard under any conditions?
Answer:
Yes, there will be illumination.
